CONCERT: The concert on Saturday, by the Harmonia Trio was a delight, their voices blended so well together singing many well-known songs beginning with O How Lovely the Evening and finishing with Goodnight to You All. This concert was their first outing but I feel very sure there will be many more. The next concert at St Laurence with be A Bunch of Daffs bringing an eclectic mixture of vocal music.

LADIES GROUP: The Falmer Ladies Group for their October meeting was treated to an evening of memories and nostalgia. Eric Huxham, who lived in Falmer from 1942 to 2006 and farmed Court Farm, spoke about the time when his family first moved into the Farm House in 1941. Eric mixed his talk with some lovely old black and white photos with shots of himself as a 4 year old sitting on the tractor at harvest time, bringing in the stacks of hay. We saw pictures of Len Page, who many in the village remembered, and who had a threshing machine which would be hired to cut the corn, and then would move on to other farms to cut their corn. Eric said that Len Page would make pit props to sell when there was no harvest work. The farm through the years, changed from rearing cattle to growing vegetables and sugar beet and to corn. The changes in farming have been immense over the years from the size of the machinery and combine harvesters used and with a workforce of 9 to now where contractors are used. It was a great evening enjoyed by many.

THE POND: Falmer Pond is still being used by migrating geese as a resting place. On Sunday before church there were none to be seen, after the service there were 20 greylags on the water, obviously, they had arrived during the service.
