First prize for art student Genny

Genny Reed-Allen’s oil on board piece ‘Where Have You Gone To’, which was completed as part of her second year studio practice, caught the eye of the judges against tough competition from other artists.
Genny lives in Washington and she is a member of Steyning Arts.

Hide AdThe painting depicts Genny’s disabled brain-injured older sister, Chloë, who had a near-fatal skiing accident in 1989 and was subsequently in a coma for two years.
Genny said: “I started painting for the first time in November 2014, two months after starting my Fine Art BA at Northbrook, so I’m a bit knocked out to have won this prize. Although I have a degree in Graphic Design/Illustration (Kingston Uni, 1980), I had no idea I could paint! My course at Northbrook has opened up a whole new world.”
