Lions swim in Haywards Heath to fund an assistance dog
This will be the Lions 31st annual event and this year it is in aid of Canine Partners, a Sussex based charity that specializes in the provision of assistance dogs to help people with disability in their everyday lives.
More than 1.2 million people in the UK use a wheelchair, and a significant number of those would benefit from a canine partner. Canine Partners tailor their dogs to each applicant’s individual needs, training them to help with everyday tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and getting help in an emergency.

These life transforming dogs also provide practical, physiological, psychological and social benefits including increased independence and confidence as well as increased motivation and self-esteem.
A canine partner also brings companionship, a sense of security and increases social interaction.
Haywards Heath Lions hope to raise enough funds to provide one or more assistance dog for people locally.

With just over two weeks to go, the event is almost full and Haywards Heath Lions would like to thank all those participating either for the first time or for continuing to support the event over the years.
