AN ‘INNOVATIVE’ and ‘fun’ business that reignites in children their love of maths has been nominated in two categories for the Adur & Worthing Business Awards.

Mathemagical Ltd currently helps more than 250 children in Worthing and the surrounding area to develop a love and fascination of maths.

Nominated for ‘Small Business’ and ‘Innovation’, Mathemagical Ltd offers fun and active maths classes for children aged two to seven and is recognised as the first pre-school activity class based solely on numeracy and maths.

Founder Stephanie Cracknell said the business deserved to win because it aimed to change the perception that children, parents and practitioners may have of maths being a ‘difficult and boring’ subject.

She said: “We offer a unique service unlike any other in the country and we make the learning fun, active and relevant.

“We help children to have the best possible start in maths to avoid them ever falling behind. We aim to enhance and support what children are learning in nursery, pre-school or school rather than replace it.”

Manager of Laugh and Learn Montessori Nursery, Danielle Wrightson, said the introduction of Mathemagical has made the children flourish.

She said: “Stephanie has worked alongside our teachers to adapt and implement fun and dynamic ways to improve children’s mathematic knowledge, without them even realising they are learning.

“She has also provided some fantastic opportunities for the nursery to observe and assess children in a new and innovating environment.”
