Today - Tuesday April 21 - is National Tea Day and the organisers are asking people to brew up a cuppa and help raise funds for the NHS.

National Tea Day, now in its fifth year, aims to bring people together to ease loneliness, but this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is holding a virtual tea party on Facebook.

The team behind it have pledged to deliver 10,000 plus tea kits to care homes and hospitals and they need the public’s help to reach that target! Each £10 donation will additionally support Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, to help bring people together over a cup of tea.

National Tea Day 2020 has created a pledge scheme to ensure that no one is left out. 7 out of 10 people know someone who is lonely and this National Tea Day, you can help bring that number down with a generous act of kindness via a donation of tea and teatime treats that will help combat that feeling of isolation.

Donations will fund par-tea packs, of tea, cakes, biscuits and balloons, for the lonely, vulnerable and heroic, by provisioning Barchester and Audley care homes and Nuffield Health hospitals, which have been made available to support NHS trusts in this difficult time.
