Playpark stumbling block for new surgery

A NEW GP surgery in Sidley should not be built at the expense of a children's play park if possible, decided planners this week.

The proposed new surgery will involve the loss of open outdoor space at Sidley Community Association. But councillors said although a new surgery was a priority, the developers must look at alternatives before they grant permission to annex one of the only open green spaces in Sidley.

The news will please the 78 petitioners who are opposing the plan.
