Police mount parking blitz
The blitz was prompted by feedback from residents and the Central Ward panel meeting, making it clear that many people are fed-up with drivers who flout the law.
Town centre bobby PC Jason Kemp, together with Police Community Support Officers Mick Hill and Andy Smith, took action against motorists who had parked on double yellow lines or overstayed their time in two-hour bays.

Sgt Sarah Porter, Community Policing Sergeant, said: “Parking breaches are an issue which causes many residents and retailers upset and anxiety, and in particular disabled drivers who cannot find available spaces.
“I am keen for the officers to continue with these days of action, as it is important that drivers parking in the town centre understand there is a responsibility for them to do so legally and safely.
“This allows everybody the opportunity to be able to park where they are lawfully entitled to do so.”
