Tarring arsonist faces prison

A WOMAN who has admitted to a spate of arson attacks in Worthing has been told she faces eight to 10 years in prison.

Carla Kimber, 30, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to attempting to commit arson, one count of arson while recklessly endangering life, and four counts of arson.

During the proceedings at Chichester Crown Court, Kimber said she also wanted 10 other cases of arson to be taken into account.

The charges relate to a series of arson attacks in the Tarring area between October 21 and November 25 last year.

During the proceedings, the prosecutor described the spate of arsons as "serious arsons, near to or on resident's property".

The court heard how although the arsons appeared to be motiveless, police did find a scrapbook of press cuttings at her home including coverage of arsons the defendant had committed.

The arsons Kimber pleaded guilty to including setting fire to a tree, hedge row, a bin, a conservatory, and attempting to set fire to a property.

The case was adjourned until June 11 for psychiatric and pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
