Rye target first ever FA Cup win
The Quaterboys will travel to fellow Sussex County Football League Division One side St Francis Rangers in a very winnable looking extra preliminary round encounter.
Rye manager Scott Price said: “I’m looking forward to it definitely. Financially it’s good for the club and from the players’ point of view, it’s the biggest cup they’re going to play in.”

Back in this term after all the hard work to bring The Salts in line with the ground grading requirements, Rye will be widely expected to break their duck this weekend.
Rye beat St Francis twice in the league last season and finished 16 places above them. St Francis have lost their first two games this season, while Rye drew their league opener at Shoreham last weekend.
“St Francis are a bottom end of the table side so the pressure’s on us I suppose,” continued Price. “They had quite a good result on Saturday (losing 1-0 at Ringmer), but we’ll go there full of confidence.”

The match has been put back a day from its scheduled date due to a clash with cricket. Kick-off is 1pm and if the scores are level after 90 minutes, a replay will take place on Tuesday, again at St Francis, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
