With two push-over tries in quick succession from their powerful pack of forwards, Newick went in to an early 10-0 lead, which stretched to
29-0 at the half-time whistle following 3 more tries and 2 conversions.

Hide AdHowever, Lewes then made several positional changes which enabled them to come much more into the game in the second half, pressing Newick within their own 22 metre zone for long periods and only conceding 2 more tries and 1 conversion, with a try of their own from Dan Wade, to make the final score 41 - 5. In spite of the one-sided nature of the score, this was an entertaining game played in the true spirit of a local derby.
On Saturday, Lewes Is return to League duties with an away game at strugglers Crowborough II, while the 2nd’s entertain Crowborough III, both games ko at 3pm.
