LETTER: Remove fountain and keep seating
Remove ‘The Shelley Fountain’ but do not erect a horse statue, as suggested recently.
It would have children and ‘yobs’ climbing on it, having their photos taken, as happens to William Pirie and his donkey cart.
I doubt if any of them know it represents William Pirie or even who he was!
Retain the seats and erect a street information board in the centre, similar to the board outside the bus station.
