Mrs Caulfield said: “I am fully supporting Cathy Brokenshire in her charity walk for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. From James’ initial diagnosis in 2017 until his passing in 2021 he was an indefatigable campaigner for better lung cancer screening, becoming the first MP to host a debate on the floor of the House of Commons on this important matter and I am so pleased that Cathy is continuing his work in this area.”

She said a new NHS Lung Cancer Screening programme has been agreed and will be rolled out across the UK by 2028, which could save 9,000 lives a year.
